I also suspect that there are many poor parts being manufactured these days and VW repair shops often end up getting burned for a repair that goes bad due to the malfunctioning of a cheap third world part.

My mechanic sent a clutch back that he was about to install for me - citing it was a hunk of %$^&%.

So in some ways I don't blame the honesty and frustration coming from the North Shore shop.
