Hey Bob,
You aren't too old and paranoid as I'm 35 and think that it's almost
fishy that the price is so low considering the cost input that had to
be incurred for the upgrades/modifications.
Anyway I wanted to say HI to everyone, I just resigned up for the list,
I'm Sunshine in Kansas and I have loved and gotten greasy with
Volkswagens for 15 years. I currently own an '89 VW Vanagon (wolsberg
weekender edition), an '87 "parts" Vanagon, a '74 Transporter Bus and
an '77 Westfalia Bus. My daily driver is the '89 Vanagon.
Anyway I had a question for you guys. My Vanagon was overheating so I
put in a new thermostat, flushed the coolant system, burped the beast,
did some other coolant hose/pipe replacements and burped her lines
again....she drove well and the coolant seemed good and saying at a
good temp, then she began beeping as it does when the coolant level in
the expansion tank is low, then I noticed a leak around the coolant
expansion tank coolant level sensor and that my radiator fan stopped
coming on as well. So I just replaced the thermo switch or radiator
temp switch just now. I haven't gotten it hot enough to kick on the
radiator fan but I just test drove her around a few mins to hear that
the buzzer kept sounding and that the coolant temp gauge didn't float
over the LED bubble, but rather was on the hot side.
I have a new coolant level sensor ordered and coming in the mail, but
until then....any thoughts, comments or advice for me on this issue?
Thank you all and it's good to be on this list, I've been going at the
restoration of this vanagon by myself for over a year now after being
used to the air-cooled VW bus world and it's been fun and I've learned
tons, the biggest thing I've learned is that reading is only prep work,
that doing the actual work itself is where you learn everything!!
Peace, Love and VW Grease,
Sunshine
