I have a bunch of metal poles I use in setting up for art shows. In the past I have use industrial grade rubber bands I get from Ceramic Supply houses. They are about 3/4 inch wide and available in a whole bunch of diameters up to about 10 inches. That's loose - unstretched. But lately I have been using big zip ties. They work great as well. They re cheaper than the rubber bands.but not re-useable. When you are done with them, just clip them off and throw away. Any good hardware store should have large ones, as well as electronics stores and auto parts stores.
