dear inheritance importing a vehicle either way requires that you notify the border several days in advance ... coming into canada is 72 hours there are forms to fill out at that time and you must cross at the border at the crossing you said you were going to be crossing at around the time you aid you would be crossing ... paperwork what ever it is must be in order and if reentering the usa ... you must show a passport noting your country of origin and current citizenship ...

as for bringing vehicles in to the usa ... they may require a waiting time and when ever i plan to cross the border with some sort of "unusual" piece of business i always give myself three or four days to be held up if required ... having this window reduces the anxiety often displayed to border guards ... you know the stuff ... I am in a hurry bud could you hurry up and let me through no matter what the rules are i have to be back to feed my cat in one day.

this will not fly and has no place in a border crossing conversation ... as far as they are concerned the rules are posted and you are expected to know them and follow them ... these guys don't have a position that offers instructional classes to the public ... Rest Assured you are dealing with a Paramilitary organization that is well armed and empowered with laws that far exceed anything you have ever-thought imaginable have your paper work in order ... another resource http://foreignborn.com/visas_imm/entering_us/7importingyourcar.htm

http://www.canuckabroad.com/forums/importing-vehicle-from-canada-to-usa-vt4457.html another ... I am planning to move back to the USA, and would need to re-import the vehicle.

I read Importing a Motor Vehicle - CBP.gov<http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/importing_car.xml>as well as Importing Vehicles and Engines | US EPA <http://www.epa.gov/otaq/imports/>, and I have concluded the following:

- I have a *U.S. Version Not Modified or Altered* vehicle (according to 2C(2) at Overview of Vehicle Import Requirements | Importing Vehicles and Engines | US EPA <http://www.epa.gov/otaq/imports/quiktext.htm#usversion>) - I need to fill out *EPA Form 3520-1* and declare code "B" on that form. ( http://www.epa.gov/otaq/imports/forms/3520-1.pdf) - I need to fill out *DOT Form HS-7* ( http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CARS/RULES/...hs799short.pdf<http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CARS/RULES/IMPORT/hs799short.pdf> ) - I do not have to pay duty since this car was previously exported from the USA (Section "Re-Importing A Previously Exported Vehicle" at Importing a Motor Vehicle - CBP.gov<http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/importing_car.xml#AWordofCaution> ) - I have to provide a bill of sale or copy of my title as proof for my vehicle being previously purchased in the USA.

also if you are hauling a laptop read

- CBP Border Search of Electronic Devices Containing Information<http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/cbp_directive_3340-049.pdf> (*PDF, 10 pages - 4.87 MB*) - ICE Border Searches of Electronic Media<http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/ice_border_search_electronic_devices.pdf>( *PDF, 10 pages - 453 KB*)

they will seize your computer if you have bootleg copies of programs including etka of if you have contraband photos etc...

lastly ... if you have internet searched and believe you have all the forms required ... go see the local customs agent in the town you live in and make sure you have all your ducks in a row before you set out
