In 1977 I was crossing with my brother (US citizens) back into the US in Minnesota after a drive around the north side of Lake Superior. We were in a "modified" 1966 Chevy van (blasphemy, I know) that was a bit modified.

We must have gotten a gung-ho new border inspector, or maybe he was bored. For no stated or obvious reason, we got pulled into secondary inspection, van deeply searched, and the 2 of us taken inside, strip searched complete with the bend-over routine. After about 2 hours, nothing discovered, and we were sent on our way.

So, you never know what might happen. Always best to be squeaky clean in all your "artifacts" -- hilarious story by the way!

Roland
