Tony, your drawing is correct in all particulars.

The thing that has been mentioned but not emphasized is that you must remove the two plugs from the idle stabilizer module on the left firewall forward of the coil, and plug them into each other (ignition off) before making the measurement.

On the 1.9l the idle stab system works by advancing and retarding the timing to keep the idle at constant speed. Since it's constatly in the circuit between the Hall generator in the distributor and the ignitor on the left firewall, a failure there can also cause interesting problems -- but trying to set the timing with it in circuit is like chasing a flea.
