To tell the truth, I haven't heard anything really bad about the Prius, other than styling complaints. I consider the solar powered ventilation thing to be more gimmick than value, but other than that, I'm sure it's a good car.
Thing is... I just can't see myself in such a trendy yuppie-mobile. Too many years driving odd-ball vehicles I guess, that's probably why I drive a Tristar.
Perhaps someday I'll build my own hydrid: Gas powered 2WD drive train in the back; Syncro diff with electric motor in the front. Battery trays under the pickup bed in the middle. A hybrid Tristar...
Cheers,
Jeff

Don't know what misinformation you have about Prius ventilation and
A.C., but it is excellent. The ventilation of course is identical with
that on any other car. The A.C. is strictly electric, that is, the
compressor is driven by its own electric motor (unlike the Honda
hybrids, where the A.C. is engine driven, and therefore shuts off when
the engine shuts off at a stop light). I've had my Prius for 45 months
now, and am delighted with the A.C. and everything else about the car.
