To each his own I guess. I bought a MIG for $600(paid for itself many times over) years ago and never looked back. I can weld a muffler on quicker than I can drive to the repair shop. AS far as being done right by a shop- yeah, maybe. Bottom line is the repair shop guys are trying to get done with your car as fast as possible. I have redone plenty of exhaust shop work in my driveway. Not trying to be confrontational or whatever, just my personal experience.
