Other than physical, the difference is that the newer one a) won't cause the gauge needle to move appreciably when it sets off the blinker and b) it latches on and won't stop blinking until you shut off the ignition. It's smaller physically because they apparently had a custom chip built that replaces a lot of discrete wiring in the earlier one. The reason the needle doesn't move is that the new one just pulses the line briefly often enough to keep the blinker going, instead of applying a steady overheat signal. Yours, David |
