Only a musician... =) Alternator and water pump sound okay to me Bryan. The valve train sounds a little loose - nothing catastrophic, just tired/worn out. When the bearing goes in the pump it doesn't stop after a few minutes, that's a different thing you're hearing. I don't know what it is but my neighbour's son used to have a Vanagon and when he came to visit it made a low-pitched chewing sound on start-up.
