A loaf tranny will not work in a Vanagon. Your options are what you have or you can change the linkage and use a later tranny. There are some gearing options if you want to have one built up.

Hi all,

If I choose to get my 81 Westy back on the road, what are my options for replacing the 2 speed manual transmission in the bus? 3rd and 4th are not good options while driving the Sierras.

I guess the question is, will type 2 transmissions from a loaf work in my bus or are there cheep 80-83 transmissions out there?
