>> I'm with Mr. McNeely. If you can swell the head gaskets AND they are only in the seep stage, that's fine. However, when the water pump starts leaking, there's a good chance that catastrophic failure is only a few miles down the road. I've been stranded twice by being an optimist on water pump issues. Now I'm a realist - replace it NOW. <<

OK, I hear you guys. What you are saying is that my 5 day camping trip next weekend during my wife and I's 20th wedding anniversary may be cut short by Murphy's law that since I know about the WP failing it is guaranteed to fail in East Nowhere, DE on Sunday afternoon. My wife is already on the "edge" that we are going group camping with 25 VW buses on our anniversary. Not sure if that ride with Buford Buddcrack in the AAA flatbed would push her over the edge or not....

I'll review the archive and the Haynes manual but I will probably have to have my mechanic do since I have a funeral to go to Saturday and may not have time to get to it myself.

Thanks again for everyone's help.

Bryan
