My NEW Stainless Steel Muffler will fit both 1.9 and 2.1 engined Vanagons. I also have a replacement 1.9 muffler support bracket and strap assembly that duplicates the OEM one. I also have all the support rods in stainless Steel for the 1.9 install. Also, just in case you don't remember........the entire 2.1 exhaust system can be fitted to a 1.9 engine IF you can get your hands on a 2.1 engine carrier, the aluminium part. It will bolt to the 1.9 case and then that allows the use of the 2.1 muffler supports, then the rest of the 2.1 system can be used. See my _Vanagon Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems_ (http://frankcondelli.com/exhaust.htm) webpage for details and photos.

>>>>>The muffler is simply attached to the cat with a three bolt flange. The most critical part for the 1.9L exhaust is that all the brackets and one strap is there and properly installed. OEM for the 1.9 is no longer available. The 2.1 muffler is larger in diameter and the strap can be modified to take it.<<<<<<
