It looks to me like one could remove that little limiting strap thingey and weld pumps on to it, top and bottom, then grind and polish them smooth, so there would be a 'hump' at about the right distance along the length of that limiting strap, to get the affect you seek. And it would still open all the way in the normal way too.

Have any of you ever modified the front door hinges to stop before opening all the way? I find that with narrow parking spaces, its hard for me to keep my front door from hitting the car parked next to me if I'm not really careful. Newer cars seem to have a part-way hinge stop that helps avoid putting a dent in the car parked next door. I can't remember if previous van's I've owned operated differently or if they all do this. Thoughts anyone?
