Ed is right.
Add a relay so as too not overpower the weak circuit.
They discuss that on the Samba forum.
I do it as well if using the higher power bulbs available.

Are you going to use a the wire in question to trigger a relay powered from some other source? Otherwise you might overpower the backup light circuit with the additional lights.
