The difference here is that when a gasoline car burns it goes at most POOF (that's a bit more violent than WOOF). Gasoline cars don't explode, Hollywood/Bollywood notwithstanding.

A propane or natural gas car goes BOOM and you don't want to be anywhere in the vicinity. I've seen a video of an old CNG Holden Commodore is Australia that caught fire... spectacular when the tank blew.
