I used a slightly different tack, if you prowl around the vintage vanagon parts places, you'll most likely see some other cars that have similar fuse boxes and relay panels. One of the 'accessories' for the relay panel is a stand alone fuse holder with two contacts. These can be had for pennies. It can be attached to the slide in rails on the top of the relay box. Then using the suitable wire guage you can wire this fuse assemby into the high current wiring you installed, bypassing the relay panel itself and the fuse box wiring. Now you have a high current, fused, circuit to feed the photon torpedos in front. Highly recommended method. The real key to upgrading the headlights is a system approach involving more efficient reflectors, an isolated high current path through relays of suitable contact chutzpah, proper wiring techniques and finally the bulbs themselves. For those wishing some serious high beam lumens, I have h3 130W bulbs available. Modestly priced, virginal, potent. Requires 30A fuse for the pair. Pensionerd. Pensionerd.
