AutoZone sells Vanagon Torque converters for $125? WOW!I will be getting one for stock. Especially at that price.

The torque converter can fail. Also, it gets filled with all the wear stuff and clutch plate linings as the centrifugal force sends all the crap to the outside. For all those folks with gutless off the line acceleration consider the torque converter may have a bad stator clutch which means it no longer can amplify torque.

If there is a choice get a converter for an 86+ van. These have a slightly higher stall speed giving better acceleration.

Some idiot wanted like $80 on samba for one a month ago, got some mocking for asking price, if it is still there, might offer him $20 or so at most.  Tell him to double bag it if you get one used, they leak oil forever if you don't siphon em, and the USPS isn't amused.  Should ship in a large flat rate.  The obvious "new" answer is of course Autozone wants $125, with only a $5 core, and will probably ship anywhere off their online site as well, so don't go too cheap.   John
