Has anyone tried "Gamma-butyrolactone" in places like this ?

It is a good solvent for many "plastic like" substances. Dissolves cellphone covers in a second. 2 component car paints should not mind, but ordinary 1 component paints probably dissolve.

It does not burn or vaporize and is quite a bit safer than gasoline or xylene.

Btw some nail polish removers have quite a lot of oily substances in them so they are no good if You are going to paint the target spot lateron.

And be warned, this might not be legally available in all places.
