Subject: Kristen Laurite was What's that? - a single woman's view on
              camping and safety (you asked...)

Her name is Kristen Laurite.

She was driving a '71 Bay Window, not a Vanagon.

She was murdered in an Arkansas rest area by Ronald James Ward Jr on August 25, 2000.

She was 25 years old and traveling to California for a new job.

IIRC, She had spent the previous night in a listmember's driveway. Hence, this was very close to our hearts.

Her website is: http://www.kristinlaurite.org/

Full story here (fee per article, but the synopsis tell the story): http://library.arkansasonline.com/ArchiveSearch.asp?SearchWords=laurite&inField=All&SortBy=DateDesc&DocsPerPage=20&eventStartDate=&eventStopDate=&go=+Execute+Search+

You might also search both the type2.com and vanagon archives for our collective reaction at the time.

Her killer will die of old age in a Montana prison.

Just keeping the facts straight.

Rest in peace Kristen.

Jim
