Subject: Where to look now? FI troubleshooting Was: OK,
              I've had it! What now?

Many thanks to all who wrote concerning the trouble I'm having with my injector troubleshooting. Before I got into anymore "trouble" I checked all the grounds, as many connections as I could find, swapped out the two relays in the engine compartment, and swapped another ECU just for giggles (no change). Then I got down to business. My apologies to all as I failed to mention in my first outburst, errrr, post, that I was unable to check any voltages while cranking or in the first few seconds of fuel pump activation as I had no helper to crank the key for me. I had some help today and found the injectors were getting voltage but it's incredibly low. It peaks at 4 volts and within two revolutions, it holds at 2-3 volts max. I have NO idea what could cause that or what to check next. I checked the relays and they are getting proper power where they should and have ground where they should. As I mentioned earlier, I swapped and swapped back on the ECU with no change. I have TWO batteries in parallel on the business side of the house so no issues there with that voltage (roughly 1800+ cranking amps so it's got rotation).

Otherwise, she's dead in the water. Weird, really weird. I've "jiggled" all the wires I could find while cranking it over, swapped out all I could with known good parts. I MUST be missing something. One thing is, it shouldn't be a short or broken wire as it's getting a steady (albeit, low) voltage. All you EE types notice that I said, "shouldn't" NOT "can't" :)

I wanted to get this out earlier but had to run to work and just got off at 1230 a.m. EST.

Anyone?

Thanks,

TJ 87 GL
