Subject: Clutch Pedal Repair
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

My clutch was not fully disengaging and I checked the adjustment of the mechanism under the dash. I was never able to get the clearance between the push rod and the clutch master come anywhere near the maximum of .5 mm allowed as per the Bentley manual. I removed the clutch pedal and found the pin which holds the clevis to the clutch pedal was worn where it contacts the pedal to less than half of its original diameter. The hole in the pedal was worn into an oblong shape where its length was twice its diameter. I have a good pin from a junked Vanagon and tomorrow I am going to take the clutch pedal to a machine shop to have the hole welded and rebored to the original diameter. I suppose one repair to the clutch pedal in 294,000 miles isn't so bad.
