Hi Mr. Squirrel,
I, being a Canadian where those very cool drip tray / flash guards where not
actually offered, just bought one out of Colorado on thesamba. Paid $50 and
it was in essence NOS in that, while the fellow apparently removed it from a
(obviously) used Westy, it was still wrapped in the blue protective
plastic. There were others on thesamba.
Incidentally, and strange / funny actually, when I removed the galled lid
and then removed the Canadian 'static' version of the flash guard, the
ball-catches were already in place, as were the holes for the hinges already
drilled! I had made extra sure that the fellow I bought the tray from
include the ball catches and all the other hardware, but it turned out half
the stuff was already there - even though the drip tray was not actually
available on Canadian Westys.
Good luck - I think you should actually be able to scrape that sh*t off with
a razor blade and some WD40 or the like...
