More options, better sun catching, plus you loose the use of the luggage rack. See my set-up here > _Vanagon Westfalia Solar Panel_ (http://frankcondelli.com/solar.htm) Remember, bigger is better. Max out put of the panel is for optimum sun which is only 1 ~ 2 hr/day. The rest of the time the sun is at too much of an angle to be effective. Newer more expensive panels can produce electricity in low light conditions, some even in moonlight. Panels loose effectiveness as they get dirty so clean often or use bigger panels. Do your homework before buying !
>>>>>Does anyone know what the most powerful solar panel is that we can fit into our Westy luggage rack spaces? I intend to install a second battery (or batteries) and I want solar to help keep things charged. We have plenty of sunshine in NM, might as well take advantage of it.<<<<<<<
