We all seem to have mental images of these vehicles (especially V'gons) as being nice looking collectible vehicles. Odds are that many of them were on their last legs, had been in collisions, etc. While there are folks out there who have no idea what they own, most sane folks would not accept a $4500 trade-in for a $10,000 car.
