VW never used a gasket on Type 1 or Type 2/Vanagon CV Joints that I'm aware
of, in the past 33 years I've sold/installed them.  Old VW Factory Parts
Books, Bentley, Parts Microfiche or ETKA show any.  Guess VW felt they
weren't necessary.
