Hi David,


Define "comparable newer vehicles".  I can't think of anything
comparable that's newer. The Eurovan comes close, but I don't think it
has the load capacity or the maneuverability of the vanagon. A sprinter
conversion, maybe. I tried looking for sprinter emissions details online
  but they don't seem to be available.
