Hi Mark

The T3 was built in our Uitenhage Factory around 1990 It had a slightly modified body (larger windows, different ventilation, less room above the engine), fuel-injected four and five-cylinder inline engines and new equipment packages. South African T3 production was halted in 2002. Altought we have the Microbus available now...with the 2.3 litre engine The last German-built T3s were the very sought-after "Limited Last Edition" models of which 2,500 were built. Hundreds of Volkswagen South Africa employees gathered at the end of June to say bon voyage to the last Volkswagen T3 Microbus to roll off the production line at the Uitenhage-based plant.

Regards Ebrahim

Yes, of course VW built right hand drive T3 models in Hanover and shipped them around the world. My answer related to T3 models actually BUILT from scratch in RSA, rather than shipped there as complete vehicles or as kits to be finished there. Do you know anything about this?

thanks, Mark
