I guess. Especially if we assume the new owner did not install a cat, but he/she could. And, I know for a fact that instead of the engine being tossed, it got bolted right up to the Vanagon with the blown engine. Saved both from contributing to landfill/using energy to be recycled. But I imagine that is a smaller impact on the environment when compared to the *potential* of this engine contributing lots more emissions. Regardless, I was just happy to see it put to "good use". But, that POV is unrelated to the topic. :)
