Dear Volks,

Does anyone know how Vanagons compare quantitatively with comparable newer vehicles? I did some reading through the nasty complicated stuff I found online a while ago, and if I understood correctly the emissions limits didn't change from some time in the '80s until 2004.

Mine was tested recently and came in at (grams per mile) Hydrocarbons 0.34/limit 3.88, CO 1.78/limit 59.97, NOx 0.55/limit 4.09 and CO2 410.88. That's respectively 9%, 3% and 13% of the 1989 maximums, which seems pretty good to me.

Thanks, David
