Chris, I care. I've done it. Six years ago I dropped 10 feet straight down through a breaking wisteria arbor and landed on a wood deck, cracking the right talus and shattering the left heel. Wheelchair, crutches, walking cast, I've done it all. I still have pain even after followup surgery, and I hope you will be okay. I figure I made it through the first 50 years or so without too much trouble, so now I'm making up for it. Of course, whoever is taking care of you will at every opportunity remind you of how thoughtful, generous and supportive she was during your recovery and will require frequent and assiduous attention to prove that you have not forgotten her wonderfulness. At times like that I like to remind her that when she rushed downstairs to my aid it was she who swung open the screen door directly into sudden and painful contact with those same two feet. Stephen
