Hi Mark

The problem is that if a fuel line does break on a hot Waterboxer, you might not get a chance to fix it!

My van ('86 2.1) had the original hoses on it, They looked fine. Upon close inspection I found the clamps were rusted and not holding any tension on the joint. The hoses crumbled when given a little strain.

The 'fire starter' plastic fitting is a likely culprit and should be replaced. I would be inclined to finish the job, you will sleep easier!

BTW if you remove the injectors, be careful with them, don't bang their tips as you will damage their pintels, ruining them. Also you should use new sealing and locating rings when you re-install them.

Best Regards

D

Hello all -

I'm replacing my gas tank and while I have it out I'm thinking of replacing all the fuel lines too. Got the GoWesty fuel line kit - HOWEVER - I'm re-thinking an entire fuel line replacement job. I got the little plastic bugger out (the one prone to breaking and causing fires) - and I think I'm going to stop there. Just based on how difficult, and messy it was getting that one line out - I'm thinking I won't mess with the injectors, injector rails, and seals. The lines appear o.k. and I fear messing something up in finishing this job (never pulled an injector before). Any thoughts out there? Should I stop - or go for it! The engine has 152,000 on it.

Mark
