how much is the OE one ? that's what I'd want in any case. hard to say if it's manufacturing tolerance differences, or cheapness, or age or what.

higher resistance is richer, so the no name on your list would always run a bit richer. Can't remember off the top of my head if your engine has a cold start injector. I think not, right ?

I'll tell you though.......those can sure be handy for a manual 'shot of fuel' in the intake manifold. I have a old and near free Mercedes Benz 450 SLC with non electronic CIS and a weak or bum warm up regulator gizmo ..... I wired the washer button to the cold start injector - a few taps to fire her off, a few taps to keep her running at cold idle or a minute or so ..... then she idles fine.

since it says 'intermittent short to ground' ......... you've checked that entire wire extra carefully ? I don't actually *believe* it is really a short to ground, just because the ecu says so. But that does make me think it's more or other than the sensor possibly.

it's easy to try different sensors, so a logical thing to me would be, see if it does it with various individual sensors. If it does it with all of them, then it's are more likely that it is not the sensor. you don't have a spare ecu do you ?

I recall there was an issue that was finally thought to be caused by drawing too much current through the stock '15' ignition wire. Might this be a similar wiring thing, or related even ? Scott www.turbovans.com

my favorite code is the one that says 'non-intermittent shortage or leakage of fluids or electrons.'

which covers everything of course .........all non-intermittent ones that is. ----- Original Message ----- From: "neil N" <musomuso@GMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Monday, October 05, 2009 7:31 PM Subject: Coolant Temp Sensor Test. Generic vs VW.
