Hey Neil My Temp II sensor wires were all cracked and breaking, the connection from wire to plug was poor, and the wires were just a little short causing them to be kinda stressed. I went to a German Auto salvage and got another couple of plugs for the sender...they seem common throughout the VW line...Cut the wires with the plug on the end (at the junkyard) and then I had room to make a good splice into my vehicle's wires... No more problems with 'dicey' operation of my Temp II related systems...Something about the wires on those plugs makes em get brittle and crack the insulation...maybe the heat...seems fairly common that there are connection issues at that sensor..Anyway, plugs like that are common throughout the VW line.
