Depends on the amount of rain.
the type of rain-camping you mention, with the mud, mud , mud......
that's in heavy persistent rain.
Over where you are ...........it's far more likely to be some showers,
which can be refreshing.
It can be so dry over there ...........rain can fall and evoporate before it
hits the ground ( impress people by asking them what 'virga' is. )
and the ground matters too.
Dryish high desert soil and sandy soil can soak up light rain nicely, no
mud., or not much.
Nice light misty rain .........very peaceful actually. Comforting in a way.
It's the endless wet wet wet that gets to ya, and equipment.
a good sprinkle, then stopping ............now we're talking ! All the
smells of the plants are activated then.
One and off light rain, perahps with a rainbow to two .....yes !
it's the endless wet that's challegning.
I'd go on this trip if I were you.
It's possible, but quite unlikely that there will be much downpour , or mud
really. At least not all over the place.
If you havn't been on Cascade Lakes Hwy on the other side of Mt. Bachelor, I
strongly suggest you get over there before it's closed for the winter.
You can camp right next a natrual ( not resevoir ) alpine lake in several
places on that hwy. Gorgious views of South Sister, etc.
And it's about an hour from Bend, like 'real close' actually.
