This is a common problem in a lot of the Federal, State &
Provincial parks. Whenever we try to organize a VW campout in one of these parks
with sites that "could" accommodate 3 ~ 4 ~ 5 Westys it is always difficult
to get the park authorities to let us double up. Joel has been somewhat
successful with the Watkins Glen State Park for the Westys @ Watkins event.
They will now allow us to double up and then each pays half the price of
the site. Last weekend at Bon Echo Provincial Park in Ontario (Canada) for
Buses in Bon Echo there was no way to get them to agree to doubling up.
Buses were so far from one another it was real exercise to get around for
visits. If anyone has had success in changing these Park policies it would be
good to document it for others to use in their negotiations. I personally
do not think it's a matter of dividing the fee among the uses of the
campsite but more the point of getting the buses closer in proximity to one
another. AND, for those of you who are going to bring up the Group Campsite
thing, MOST of the time those group campsites do not have enough facilities
for all the campers, like electricity, washrooms, showers, etc. BTDT !
>>>>>In Washington State Parks, they care not whether you're driving a 50'
Prevost or a Westy. ONE camper per site. Extra vehicle cannot have sleeping
facilities. Oregon State Parks (at least on the east side of the state) are
more flexible. 50' Prevost = 3 Westies. One at full rate, two at 'extra
vehicle' rate. Put as many Westies in as the campsite will hold. It's not
really a money thing, it's mre a togetherness thing. It's difficult to do
a
group campout when the rigs are scattered all over the bloody park. And,
it's against MY principle to camp in a parking lot (which is what many
state
park 'group sites' are.)<<<<<<<
