You all have talked me into it. Here's where we're going, my 21 y/o son and I: http://www.eugenecarsey.com/camp/eastfortrock/sand.htm The weather forecast has eased up a teeny bit. They now predict: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=97701 My son looked at the info and said. "I'm not scared. I'm down with that." Which is how the young people talk these days with all their hippity-hoppity and their Mybook and Facespace. I purchased a barely-used kerosene heater, 7,800 btu, Aladdin Tropic model to provide heat when the weather forecast was dire-er. Now the weather doesn't look very threatening but I'm bringing it anyway to try out. More about that heater about 2/3rd's the way down this page: http://www.endtimesreport.com/kerosene_heaters.html The heater gets way too hot for use inside the van, I measured 600 degrees F on the top cover. Could boil water on it, no problem. It's safe for inside use in that it does not put out carbon monoxide, but it does consume oxygen at a decent rate, and the fumes make one's eyes sting. I'm going to "season" it per these instructions to see if the fumes during operation lessen: http://www.endtimesreport.com/breaking_in_new_kerosene_appliances.html But anyway, we're a-goin'. Mrs Squirrel says, "Brrr. . . see you when you get back." (Barely heard was "...you idiot.") I am bringing a fair selection of barley wine, stouts, ales, and Rieslings for companionship. And a nice Chianti. For with the cannellini bean soup I'm making. -- Mike "Rocket J Squirrel" Elliott 84 Westfalia: Mellow Yellow ("The Electrical Banana") 74 Westrailia: (Ladybug Trailer company, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.)
