Did most of Central America back in 2003 in a 72 Westy before we became Vanagon folk.

Great trip, no troubles other than the Honduran border we chose to cross...crooked guards made us wait until the next day to enter.

There's a couple of books about Mexican camping/RVing, worth looking at for general advice etc although most are geared towards big RV's.

Make sure you have all your vehicle paperwork with you before you leave, including original title.
