The problem with having a resistor installed in the temp circuit is it will > also mess with the

blinking light in the gauge. I know for sure that the blinking led has saved my motor more than once on my old van. I had a problem with my gauge this last spring. I will look for my notes which I wrote down how to test your wiring and gauge by using a pack of .99cent resistors from radio shack. One thing I will mention before I go look for my notes is that I had three brand new sendors for the temp gauge. One from an online vendor,my local parts place and the third was from VW directly. They all made the gauge read different. I found the one I purchased from the online vendor to be the most accurate. The other two read either high or really low.
