With the ignition on (car not running), measure the voltage between the two (meter ground lead to one, voltage lead to the other), then swap the meter leads and measure again. The + will be the more positive of the two, so you'll should get a positive reading one way, a negative reading the other way. When the meter is connected meter-ground-to-coil-negative and meter-voltage-to-coil-positive, you should measure a positive voltage.
