I have never noticed that my camper smells like smoke after campfires, even when the weather is wet. Partly that may be due to accommodation, but I would think that if I have the fire, drive home, park the van for a couple of days, it is rainy, and I open the door, if the smell was there, I'd get it. Maybe I am just insensitive to that smell, but my clothes do retain it, and when I wash them several days after the fire, I can smell it on them as I put them in the washer.
