Both Microsoft Streets & Trips and the Delorme mapping software is sold with a USB port GPS receiver at around $100, less if you shop a little bit. In mye experience the GPS unit that ships with S&T is far superior to the Delorme unit, more compact and versatile and much more sensative, even works indoors. I'm not familiar with any mapping/planning software that includes the needed base maps that is free or even shareware. There may be some out there but I'm not aware of any. BTW, the Delorme GPS receiver can be used with S&T if you install a little utility. But it doesn't work well, BTDT.
