Greetings Listees,

I am preparing to take my '87 Syncro Westfalia to the body shop to address deteriorating paint, creeping seam rust and just general deterioration from 22yrs of use. I'm meeting my neighbor Saturday morning at the body shop with her '87 Westfalia - We're going to take the roofs off of both busses, replace the canvas in hers, and put her roof back on. Mine is staying off for the paintwork. I haven't done much on the Syncro for the past several years, and have a few questions for those of you with more current work history on Vanagons:

1) A long time ago I had the Ekta on CD. For whatever reason, and several computer upgrades later, I no longer have it. Is there a version of Ekta that runs on XP available to purchase or download? Not too much in the archives about this anymore.

2) I need a skylight. There are now two available, single and double layer. I am on my third double-layer one, which is now cracked in numerous places. I'd appreciate any specific recommendations as to replacing it with another double-layer or single layer skylight.

3) I need to know how to remove / replace the weatherstripping around the windows in the front doors (the rubber with what appears to be an embedded aluminum channel. Mine are shot and needs to be replaced. Do these simply snap out, or does the glass have to be removed? Bentley isn't real helpful with these.

Please pmail in addition to posting to the list; I don't always make it all the way through the digests --

*Thanks, Jon B Kanas Email: kanas<at>qadas.com <mailto:kanas@qadas.com> Longmont, Colorado; Cultural Center of the Universe *
