Speaking of myself but this probably applies to others here too, I tend to cheap out and get by with what I have. If my ladder was questionable, I'd probably shimmy up it too. But I'll bet in this case with some hindsight Chris would have ran to the nearest Lowes or Home Depot and gladly paid retail for the best ladder they had. It's amazing how fast things happen as soon as something gives way underneath you:)

I had siding to replace on my 2 story house; cheaped out and built a scaffold platform in my backyard from old warehouse racking instead of just renting the real thing from HD. It was much more work, much heavier and way harder to move around the yard. Then I stepped in an area which I thought was supported but actually gave way. I landed hard on my rear and deep bruised my thigh, ripped a fingernail off, etc.. No broken bones, could have been much worse, but wouldn't of happened at all if I just rented the right equipment in the first place.

Guess the point is don't be cheap like me; it's not worth breaking something or getting paralyzed to save $50-$100 bucks.

wanted to wait till fri to respond.. anyway thank you all for the kind words..

its just hard for me because i am used to going a mile a minute, and one freak accident has brought my life to a standstill.. things i took for granted, are a huge deal for me now.. the smallest things are a struggle. so many things i had needed to do before winter sets in, will have to be let go..

i know others have dealt with hardships worse, and i should consider my self lucky it wasnt worse..

thanks again for the kind words everyone.. hopefully by spring i will be back on my feet again, if everything goes well..

remember..be safe.. if i was being safe i wouldnt have ended up like this..

chris
