It is secured to the dash by a long drywall screw into a small board wedged in the ash try hole. Couple of turns of the big screw and it's outta there. I originally had it fitted with Velcro but in the hot Mexican sun the Velcro would come unglued. Not a pretty site. When the laptop's not there it's a convenient place to stash all other sorts of junk you NEED on your dash ! Laptop cannot have one of those new shiny screens to be visible in daylight. Laptop tray and laptop must be configured so that they allow the laptop to be open and readable without the lid banging against the windshield. Laptop must be a sort that can take some rough usage or you will need some foam suspension that allows the fan to work properly under it, otherwise you will eventually kill the hard drive. I'm using a Lenova T500 that has a shock absorbing hard drive, so far so good, going on one year plus of use !
