Well, The Works did the job alright. It had been soaking since last night. I just went out and was able to get that socket end off the ball. The bonus is that after wiping that lever off it looked great - clean and not rusty :) So a bit of wire brushing to clean the remaining bits off - a shot of rustoleum self etching primer - then tomorrow I'll top it off with a coat of black rustoleum engine paint. Should help keep that rust at bay for a while. When i put the new cable end on I'll grease it up with some of the CV moly grease I have left.
