Hi Robert, I have a new to me 1990 Vanagon GL with 2.1L motor with newly rebuilt heads. I have no idea on the actually mileage of the motor but I believe it is high. I was and still am getting between 19 and 21 MPG before and after rebuilt heads. It depends on highway or around town driving for me. Regards, David

Before the rebuild I would be average on a full tank down to nothing 200 miles per tank, note that this with with poor compression on 2 heads. With the rebuild now I am seeing 320 miles! I just filled the tank with 14 gallons of gas which means I am getting close to 22.8MPG. Which seems amazing. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or above average? Robert NY |
