Subject: Enlightment needed Valves Question WBX 1.9
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hello List,

It was suggested to me that the valves on my Vanagon are causing the lack of smooth idle and then the subsequent lack of power under load and the stalling of the engine. This may explain that "ppfffff" sounding backfire that I hear, like a lean backfire coming from the air cleaner while on 2nd gear.

I know, I know we have hydraulic valves and they should not need adjustment. That was told to me and understood by the person giving me the tip. He explained that even so, in freaky instances this valves could still float and cause a lack of compression.

I have not done a compression test and more than likely will let the mechanic do it since my time has ran out on working on this van (baby coming soon ~3 wks)

I wondered if anyone has experienced something similar? Thanks, El t. -- 82 Scirocco "Rodolfo" 85 Vanagon "El Guapo" 90 Fuji Ace
