Yah even the new battery didn't c/w a plastic cover. Pretty sure I have used one kicking around somewhere.....

One of the first things I did when I got my Westy was to put a layer of duct tape on the lid, and some foam strips. Battery didn't c/w the hold down strap. Recently made my own. (similar to this aux battery strap)
