You already know this but the V designation is a description of physical
geometry while the boxer designation is geometry(180deg) and relative piston
position(opposed).
A "V" motor with separate throws for each piston still can't be a boxer.

So a V8 with separate big-ends wouldn't be a V. It's the cylinder
layout that counts, not the number or sharing of bearing journals.
